Shri Ram Showpiece in Natural Amethyst

राम written in forty natural amethysts, framed in walnut and standing on its own engraved base. A devotional piece for a pooja room, and the piece most often chosen as a gift for parents.

A Shri Ram showpiece for a pooja room, a mandir shelf, or a place of daily practice. Forty amethysts in three cuts: thirty two large ovals for the body of the script, five large marquise and three small marquise at the terminals where a stroke narrows.

Devanagari is drawn, not printed. The shirorekha, the line across the top, is laid first and in one continuous run, because every letter below hangs from it. A single stone out of line there would tilt the whole word.

Writing the name repeatedly, likhit jaap, is a devotional practice in its own right, and in many homes the written name is kept where it can be seen rather than stored away. Rendered in stone it becomes permanent, which is the whole intention behind the practice.

Quiet and inward, the more contemplative of our two Shri Ram pieces. Chosen as a Ram Navami gift, a griha pravesh gift for a devout household, or a gift for parents who keep a daily practice. Placed by hand onto cream suede, framed in solid wood, set on an engraved base.

This is an object for a room, not a stone to be worn, and not an idol for abhishek or ritual bathing. Made in small numbers in New Delhi, certified, insured and gift boxed.
